The Ivory Coast international is coming off the back of an excellent World Cup from a personal perspective.

His nation may have been knocked out in the round of 32, but the right-back can hold his head high.

The summer tournament looks set to make way for a busy period for the 23-year-old after plenty of transfer interest.

Doue has been strongly linked to Hill Dickinson Stadium without a deal going through at this stage.

Everton and David Moyes could now take a step closer to signing Doue as their hunt for a new right-back continues.

Everton to benefit from £21m agreement at European giant

Having missed out on European qualification in the season just gone, the window is always going to be slightly harder.

If the Blues had gotten themselves into the Europa League or Conference League, they would have been in a stronger negotiating position.

That has left many fearful of getting into transfer battles, especially with a giant like Inter Milan.

The Nerazzurri have been linked to Doue already this summer and would likely be a more attractive prospect than L3.

That now looks set to change as Inter have reached a £21million agreement to sign Anan Khalaili from Union Saint-Gilloise.

Fabrizio Romano reported the news on Thursday after face-to-face discussions, with the Serie A giants now sign one of their right-back targets.

That could prove to be great news on Merseyside in the Toffees' pursuit of Doue.

Could Everton still sign Doue from Strasbourg?

The Blues have been credited with an interest in signing the defender throughout the summer.

They certainly haven't been the only interested party, but other parties appear to be assessing other options.

If they move like Inter, it could give Everton some much-needed encouragement to get a deal over the line for Doue.

His performances at the World Cup were impressive and proved just how good he could be in L3.

He may come at a sizable fee, but may be worth every penny if a deal can be arranged with Strasbourg.

A bidding war has been mooted, so it is in Everton's best interest to get a deal done as soon as possible, especially after Inter looked elsewhere.
