Manchester City have confirmed the coaches who will join Enzo Maresca’s backroom team following his appointment as the club’s new manager on a three-year contract.
Former City goalkeeper Willy Caballero has returned to the Etihad Stadium as a first-team coach. The Argentine spent three years at the club from 2014, winning the 2016 League Cup, and previously worked with Maresca at Leicester City and Chelsea.
Caballero played under Pep Guardiola, who Maresca replaced last month, and will now join Roberto Vitiello, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Denis Silva and Javier Molina as part of the new coaching setup.
City also confirmed that set-piece coach James French and goalkeeping coach Richard Wright will remain in their roles for the 2026/27 season.
French joined Manchester City from Liverpool last year as the club’s set-piece coach, bringing extensive Premier League experience to the role.
After beginning his career with Swansea City and the Football Association of Wales, French joined Liverpool’s backroom staff in 2012.He spent more than a decade at Anfield, working as a first-team opposition analyst before making the move to City.
A club statement read: “Manchester City can now confirm the coaches that will join the Club as part of Enzo Maresca’s backroom team.
“Roberto Vitiello, Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Denis Silva and Javier Molina will all be part of Maresca’s staff.
“Set piece coach James French and goalkeeping coach Richard Wright will continue in the roles they held during the 2025/26 season.”
After three years away, Enzo Maresca has returned to Manchester City. The Italian previously worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant during City’s Treble-winning 2022/23 season and has now succeeded his former boss.
Maresca’s appointment highlights his rapid rise in management, having only taken his first senior coaching role in 2021.
He now faces the challenge of following Guardiola, who won 20 trophies during his decade in charge at the Etihad Stadium.
