Chelsea have entered the race for Tottenham target Crysencio Summerville.
Tottenham Hotspur are having a dream summer transfer window so far, spending close to £240million across six signings. More spending is expected, with head coach Roberto De Zerbi set to be handed a winger and potentially a striker.
Spurs are interested in signing Crysencio Summerville, who wants to leave West Ham following their relegation. The diminutive winger was one of the Netherlands’ brightest sparks at the World Cup, where he bagged two goals and as many assists in four outings. Unfortunately, the Netherlands’ World Cup dream came to an end at the hands of Morocco in a penalty shootout in the Round of 32.
Recently, it emerged that Crysencio Summerville has a relegation clause in his contract that has seen his price drop from £70million to £40million. This has immediately put several Premier League clubs on red alert.
Chelsea set to rival Tottenham for Crysencio Summerville
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea have entered the race for Summerville. They have had some contacts with West Ham over a potential deal for the 24-year-old, which has led to mention of players who could move in the opposite direction as part of any negotiation.
Summerville was West Ham’s best player since the turn of the year. He delivered several magic moments, whilst chipping in with five goals and two assists in 31 Premier League appearances. The Dutchman is too good to be playing Championship football, and the rising interest in the player clearly shows that.
West Ham's relegation has alerted a clause in Crysencio Summerville's contract and has significantly reduced the fee required to sign the winger, sources have told @TEAMtalk.

Both Tottenham and Chelsea need more quality on the flanks, and Summerville will add pace, flair and goals to the respective teams. He demonstrated his talent and potential during the World Cup, and if groomed properly, the Netherlands international can become one of the most exciting wingers in the English top flight.
Chelsea are looking to rebuild their squad under new head coach Xabi Alonso. A player of Summerville’s profile would fit well into Alonso’s system, but Spurs have to be aggressive in their approach to not let the West Ham star move to Stamford Bridge. De Zerbi is building something exciting in N17, having acquired Premier League-proven talents such as Sandro Tonali, Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes and Andy Robertson. The Italian tactician must push the club’s hierarchy to crack a deal with the Hammers for the 24-year-old.
