Liverpool have held talks over a deal to sign another France international alongside Bradley Barcola this summer, according to TEAMtalk.
The Reds have had a quiet summer of arrivals so far, with Victor Munoz the only signing of the Andoni Iraola era to date, while all of Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah, and Ibrahima Konate have departed on a free transfer since the end of the season.
More players are expected to leave too, while the Reds are keen to rebuild an ageing squad and get back to competing for silverware after a poor campaign, and that has seen them identify a Serie A star as a potential option.

According to a report, AS Roma star Manu Kone has made it clear that he wants to move to the Premier League this summer, and Liverpool are among the clubs who have been in talks about a potential transfer.
Kone, who has been described as 'phenomenal', enjoyed a fine season for the Italian outfit in 2025/26, making 37 appearances and earning a spot in the France squad, where he has started two of their five games, including the controversial 1-0 win over Paraguay in the Last 16.
His performances have impressed a number of clubs, and it has now emerged that Roma would be open to a sale for around £50m.
As a result, the player's representatives have held talks with a number of clubs through intermediaries, including Liverpool, about a potential move this summer.
During those talks, clubs have been told that Kone is desperate to play in England and is enthusiastic about the prospect of playing in the league should the right opportunity arise.

Kone to Replace Curtis Jones?

The summer window has so far been littered with rumours that Curtis Jones could be set to depart Anfield as he is now in the final year of his contract, and has strong interest from Inter Milan.
Should the academy graduate depart, then a move for Kone would make a lot of sense, and would arguably even be an upgrade on the England international.
Kone has played at the highest level and is only 25, while he can play as a 6 or 8, depending on what the manager wants from him. It would be smart business from the Reds, and if they choose to move ahead with a deal then they'd be handing their rivals another blow too.
