With new head coach Andoni Iraola already working at the AXA Training Centre and several players returning for pre-season preparations ahead of Tuesday’s official start, Liverpool’s focus is now turning towards the new Premier League campaign.
There is still plenty of work to be done in the transfer market, with the Reds losing long-serving squad members Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate on free transfers at the end of last season.
More departures could also follow as the Reds reshape the squad. Liverpool have already strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Osasuna and Spain international Víctor Munoz, but they remain keen to add another high-profile winger this summer.
Liverpool had identified RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as a potential replacement for Salah, but the Ivory Coast international is reportedly favouring a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Reds have since turned their attention to alternatives, including PSG winger Bradley Barcola. However, Liverpool are keeping their options open, with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh, Said El Mala and Matías Fernández-Pardo also on the club’s shortlist.
Cologne forward Said El Mala, who is under contract until the summer of 2030, enjoyed an impressive season last term, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
According to Sky Germany, Said El Mala is open to a move to Borussia Dortmund, with his agent and mother also believed to support a potential transfer.
The 19-year-old’s future remains unresolved, with Cologne prepared to sell if a suitable offer arrives. Dortmund are aware of the financial details involved, including the player’s salary demands, signing bonuses and overall transfer structure.
However, the Bundesliga club are yet to be fully convinced that a deal makes financial and sporting sense, with the total package potentially reaching €50million including bonuses.
Dortmund remain interested in the Germany Under-21 international, but no quick breakthrough is expected as negotiations continue over the transfer fee.
El Mala previously rejected a move to Brentford after the Premier League club reached an agreement with Cologne worth €50million. The winger, after discussions with his family, decided against joining the Bees.
A left winger by trade, the teenager also featured as a centre-forward and on the right wing for his club last season, highlighting his versatility across the attack.
