Liverpool are exploring options to strengthen their wing positions this summer as they prepare for life beyond Mohamed Salah.
The Reds have already added Osasuna and Spain international Víctor Munoz to their attacking options, but they are still searching for another high-profile winger.
Andoni Iraola is keen to add a pacey wide player, with RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande heavily linked with a move to Anfield.
However, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly holding an advantage in the race for Diomande, Liverpool are considering alternatives.
Brighton & Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh is among the players on the club’s shortlist, alongside Bradley Barcola, Said El Mala and Matias Fernnndez-Pardo.
The Gambia international Minteh is regarded as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous wingers due to his speed and attacking ability. The 21-year-old recorded a top speed of 36.11 km/h against Manchester City last season, making him Brighton’s fastest player.
He also averaged 1.9 successful dribbles per game, with only Jeremy Doku, Iliman Ndiaye and Mohamed Kudus recording higher figures in the Premier League.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Minteh is being monitored by Liverpool, although Brighton could demand a fee in the region of £70m-£80m for the winger.
One factor that could work in Liverpool’s favour is the absence of a sell-on clause. Newcastle United, who sold Minteh to Brighton in a £30m deal amid PSR concerns, did not include a future percentage clause in the agreement.
Minteh recorded seven league goal involvements in 34 appearances last season.The winger has three years remaining on his contract at Brighton, but his agent Bakary Bojang has previously revealed that Minteh has ambitions of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Speaking back in October 2025, Bojang said: “Yankuba is happy at Brighton at the moment. He’s playing regularly and developing well, so he’s in the right place right now.
“I can’t comment on any rumours at this point, out of respect for both the player and the clubs involved. However, as you know, every ambitious player dreams of competing at the highest level and playing for the biggest clubs in the world.”
Minteh could be an ideal fit for Liverpool, given his ability to operate on both wings. His pace and power would help the Reds remain a major threat in wide areas, although he still has plenty of development ahead before reaching Salah’s level.
