Arsenal are trying to sign Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, according to HBVL.
The German joined Brugge from Hannover last summer and had a good debut season, registering 23 goals and providing nine assists across all competitions.
In a recent interview, Tresoldi said that he is honoured to be linked with the Gunners and HBVL claim that the London giants are ‘trying’ to secure a summer deal.
Arsenal have a ‘concrete interest’ in the Germany youth international, but Brugge seem determined to keep him for another season before sanctioning his exit.
Arsenal could see Tresoldi as Jesus’ replacement
The Gunners currently have Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres as their regular strikers. Jesus is the third-choice and could leave the club for around £20 million.
Arsenal are quite firm on the reported valuation and have not ruled out the possibility of keeping the experienced Brazilian for the final year of his contract.
Jesus likewise appears content to stay if a move does not materialise. In our view, Arsenal could move for Tresoldi this summer only if the former Manchester City man is sold.
Otherwise, they may not pursue another striker. The Gunners have already built a good relationship with Brugge and are on the verge of landing Christos Tzolis.
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta may have used the opportunity to negotiate a possible transfer for Tresoldi, who was valued at £26m earlier in the year.
Brugge have already lost a key midfield figure in Aleksandar Stankovic after Inter triggered a buyback clause. Tzolis also looks to be on his way to Arsenal.
Hence, the Belgian champions could resist Tresoldi’s sale, though Arsenal could still negotiate a pre-transfer agreement for the highly-rated German striker.
