Morning, Blues. A quiet one on the official front, but the rumour mill did the heavy lifting overnight: the right-back hunt rumbles on and a Barcelona wonderkid is on the radar. Grab a brew and let’s have a look over the nonsense transfer clickbait.
The club bit
The lads are back in from today and building fitness ahead of a summer schedule that opens away at Dundee a week tomorrow (Saturday 18 July), before Bolton (25th), Stoke (28th), a double German test at Hamburger SV (1 August) and VfB Stuttgart (8 August), before Newcastle at Murrayfield (12th) and Lille at Hill Dickinson Stadium (15th) – then the real stuff begins with Crystal Palace at home on 22 August.

Incomings
The right-back saga continues. The latest twist has developments at Inter giving us an “outside chance” at Guéla Doué – the Strasbourg man and brother of you-know-who – though Strasbourg’s asking price knocking on £40m remains the great stumbling block. He’s on a shortlist that’s also carried Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Djed Spence, and there’s a separate nudge for the Blues to gatecrash the race for riggt-back Givairo Read after Nottingham Forest saw a £15m bid knocked back. Whether any of it turns into an actual full-back walking through the door… well, that’s July for you.
Elsewhere, Roony Bardghji is spuriously linked. Contact has, apparently, been made with Barcelona over the 20-year-old Sweden forward, who’s surplus to the Camp Nou reshuffle. The catch: he’d prefer a loan to get minutes, we’d rather buy (Barça value him around £13m), and there’s a proper queue, apparently – Leeds, Villa, Sunderland, Brighton and Brentford have all been sniffing. Hey – the more names included, the more clicks. /eye roll.
Outgoings
