Man City Enter Race With Arsenal For Argentinian Starlet With £15M Release Clause

Boca Juniors attacking midfielder Tomas Aranda is a target for Man City, according to reports in the Argentinian media.

Newspaper El Intransigente claims that the City Football Group have placed the 19-year-old “on its list of priority” targets.

Aranda has already been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, with the Daily Mail and El Crack Deportivo having mentioned the Gunners as potential suitors.

However, it appears that the City Football Group could now make an offer for the Argentinian, who received his first senior cap last month.

Aranda’s release clause makes him an attractive target

El Intransigente have confirmed claims that the teenager has a $20m (£15m) buyout fee, which is not a sum that would put off City.

From the sound of things, Aranda wouldn’t move to Manchester straight away, and there is a decent chance he would either join another City Football Group team first or, at the very least, be loaned out to one.

They have a track record of doing this with other Argentinian players, most recently with Claudio Echeverri, who moved to Girona in January after struggling whilst out on loan at Bayer Leverkusen.

Are Man City targeting any other young players?

Reports suggest that Enzo Maresca’s side are hoping to lure midfielder Mishel Nduka away from Arsenal. The 16-year-old only moved from Charlton Athletic last year, but it appears he could soon be on the way to the Etihad Campus.

Man City have already secured a deal for Leicester’s Jeremy Monga from under the Gunners’ noses, while they have re-signed goalkeeper Pierce Charles from Sheffield Wednesday.

Charles is the brother of Shea, and he originally left the Etihad for Hillsborough in the summer of 2020. Despite returning to Manchester, he is expected to be loaned out to get more first-team experience, with Queens Park Rangers and Wrexham vying for the Northern Ireland international’s signature.
