Manchester United academy coach Tom Curtis is expected to join Everton. Curtis acted as Under-21s caretaker when a coaching reshuffle was required during Darren Fletcher's two games in charge of the first team in January.

He managed four U21 matches before Adam Lawrence was appointed interim for the remainder of the season.

Curtis joined United in November 2024 as the head of player development for the Under-13 and Under-16 age groups. He previously spent 10 years working across different youth roles with the FA.

Curtis is poised to link up at Everton with the former head of United's academy, Nick Cox. Last year, Cox joined Everton as their technical director and has since reshaped their academy system with a string of new hires.

Former United U21 assistant coach Dave Hughes is set to manage that same age group at Everton. Curtis is understood to be in talks to leave United to work alongside Hughes in the Toffees' U21 set-up.

Meanwhile, United are preparing to formally announce the permanent appointment of Lawrence as U21 head coach. Lawrence returned to Carrington on Monday ahead of the beginning of pre-season for the U21s.

The U21 vacancy became available when Travis Binnion stepped up to help the first-team coaching staff. Curtis briefly acted as caretaker before Lawrence returned to the club to oversee the second half of last season.
