Lewis-Skelly and Dowman Make European Golden Boy Top 100

Two Hale End graduates feature among Europe’s leading young talents.

Arsenal’s academy continues to make its mark on the European stage, with Myles Lewis-Skelly and Max Dowman both earning places in the latest Golden Boy Top 100. Their inclusion puts two Hale End graduates among the continent’s most promising young talents.

Lewis-Skelly leads the Arsenal contingent in 24th place, with the 19-year-old recognised after ending the season in a prominent midfield role for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Dowman, meanwhile, is ranked 51st. Still only 16, the winger is among the youngest names on the list.

With both players included, Arsenal join a select group of clubs with multiple representatives in a ranking topped by Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal. Paris Saint-Germain’s Warren Zaïre-Emery and Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsí round out the top three.

The European Golden Boy award, run by Italian newspaper Tuttosport since 2003, has become a benchmark for emerging talent. For the 2026 edition, Transfermarkt’s scoring system is shaping the Top 100 as the year unfolds.

Eligibility is limited to players born in 2006 or later who play in one of Europe’s 25 top leagues. The list will keep evolving before it is trimmed to a final 20 in October, when an international panel will decide the winner.

Lewis-Skelly’s inclusion follows a season in which his route into Arsenal’s starting side was far from straightforward. The Hale End graduate struggled to earn regular minutes for much of the campaign, rather than establishing himself as an automatic first-team selection.

His role changed towards the end of the season when Arteta moved him into defensive midfield, the position in which he developed through Arsenal’s academy.

Lewis-Skelly made the most of that opportunity and earned the manager’s trust during the decisive weeks of Arsenal’s Champions League campaign. Starting in midfield for the second leg of the semi-final before retaining his place for the final alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

Breaking into the top 25 reflects both his wider reputation and the progress he made despite a challenging campaign.

For Dowman, this recognition comes at a much earlier point in his journey.

The Arsenal teenager made headlines in March 2026 when he became the youngest scorer in both club and Premier League history, netting against Everton at just 16 years and 73 days old.

His spot in the Top 100 only adds to the growing buzz around one of Arsenal’s most highly rated prospects. The club, though, will be keen to manage his development carefully given how early he is in his career.

The Premier League leads the way with 23 players on the updated list, more than any other league. Lewis-Skelly stands out among England’s top-flight representatives, while Dowman’s inclusion puts Arsenal among the select few clubs with a 16-year-old in the running.
