Liverpool officials jet out of UK for 'very special' forward as contract offer made - report

Liverpool continue to plan for the future and have reportedly moved a step closer to landing an exciting young attacking prospect.

Jeremy Jacquet has officially joined the club after the Reds agreed on a £60 million deal with Rennes back in February. The 20-year-old is regarded as one of Europe's best youngsters who could become Virgil van Dijk's long-term replacement.

The club saw off Newcastle United in the race for Spanish attacker Victor Munoz. The 22-year-old has arrived from Osasuna in a £34.5m deal and is tipped to become a top talent.

Liverpool's transfer chiefs continue to target youngsters with huge potential and they are pressing ahead with efforts to sign Georgian teenage gem Andria Bartishvili. The 17-year-old is also on Arsenal's radar and both Premier League giants have stepped up their pursuits.

Georgian football insider GEO Team, via Dave Ockop, reports that directors from both clubs flew to Estonia to watch Bartishvili in action for Erovnuli Liga club Iberia 1999. They beat Tallinna FC Flora 3-2 in their UEFA Champions League qualifier, with the Georgian teenager playing 80 minutes.

It's claimed that Liverpool and Arsenal have both presented "identical contract" proposals to Bartishvili. He and his family are set to decide on his future and whether to head to Anfield or the Emirates.

Bartishvili is set to return to his parent club, Kolkheti Poti, at the end of 2026, once his loan spell with Iberia 1999 ends. His contract with Kolkheti expires at that time, paving the way for clubs to sign him as a free agent or pay minimal compensation.

There are huge expectations of the 'very special' Bartishvili in his homeland, and his dazzling displays have seen him land on Liverpool's wishlist. While his best work comes in attacking midfield, he can play on either wing.

Bartishvili has managed two goals and three assists in 18 games while on loan at Iberia 1999. Many are tipping him to become 'the next Khvicha Kvaratskhelia', who is viewed as the greatest talent to emerge on Georgian shores.

The issue Liverpool have is that Arsenal appear eager to beat the Merseysiders to his signature. The aforementioned source claims that their Head of Scouting, Mauricio Micheli, was present for Wednesday's game and was "highly impressed."

Liverpool are set to battle Barcelona and Manchester United for Australian centre-back Lucas Herrington.

Iraola might play an important role in the transfer battle, as he'll be the one to inform Bartishvili about his path to first-team football. If he can promise a quicker one than Mikel Arteta is offering, that might help convince the Georgian to choose Anfield.
