Manchester United are in the driving seat to sign a £50m star who 'dreams' of a move to Old Trafford despite interest from Liverpool, according to TEAMtalk.
After a quiet few weeks in the summer transfer window, Man United chiefs are springing into action ahead of the return of players to pre-season and appear determined to get some more deals across the line ahead of the club's return to the Champions League next term.
United fans were of the assumption that a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson would be completed on the Brazilian's return from the 2026 World Cup after his nation was eliminated, but instead doubts have been raised over his first medical with the player now in the UK to undergo a second.
Simultaneously, the Red Devils have moved to secure the £50m signing of Ederson's Brazilian teammate Andre Santos from Chelsea, as they look to complete a much-needed rebuild of their central midfield.
The need for new faces in the middle of the pitch has only been further heightened by Manuel Ugarte injurying his knee ligaments for Uruguay at the World Cup, which has left United short of any depth following Casemiro's summer exit.
As well as midfield, United are looking to bolster other positions too and have been given a huge boost.
Crysencio Summerville 'Dreaming' of Joining Man United

GIVEMESPORT sources revealed earlier this month that United had opened club-to-club talks to sign Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United.
As well as the midfield rebuild, the Red Devils are keen to bring in a left-sided attacker and have also been linked with a move for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers.
However, club chiefs have firmed up their interest in the Netherlands international instead, with TEAMtalk claiming that Liverpool are ready to hijack any potential deal.
The outlet claim that the £50m-rated attacker 'dreams' of a move to Old Trafford despite interest from Liverpool and Chelsea, which puts them in the driving seat for his signature.

United Hold Talks to Sign Superstar in Club-Record Deal
Bradley Barcolavia Reuters
Summerville isn't the only forward United are apparently holding talks over, with the same source reporting that they have also been in contact over a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
While PSG are reluctant to lose the France international, they could be forced to cash in on him should contract talks continue to stall, with the player's current deal expiring in the summer of 2028.
Liverpool and Arsenal are very keen on landing the 23-year-old, who could fall down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes anyway, with the Champions League winners in talks to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig and Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco.
Should PSG green-light a move away from Barcola, they are ready to demand a world-record fee of £128m for the winger, which shows how highly they rate him.
That price would surely be too much of a stretch for the Red Devils, who were unwilling to match what Manchester City were willing to pay for Elliot Anderson this summer.
