Burnley have officially announced the signing of former Liverpool midfielder Christie Harrison-Murray on a one-year contract, with the club holding the option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.
The Scotland international joins Burnley following her departure from Birmingham City, where she captained the side to the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 title last season.
Harrison-Murray began her career in Scotland before moving to Arsenal in 2014. She later enjoyed a successful three-year spell with Glasgow City, helping the club win eight trophies.
The attacking midfielder spent two seasons at Liverpool, making 36 Women’s Super League appearances, before joining Birmingham City in 2020.
During her six years in the Midlands, she established herself as a key figure and captained the Blues to the 2025/26 BWSL2 title.
At the international level, the 36-year-old has earned 82 caps for Scotland since making her senior debut in 2010. She represented her country at UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scoring five international goals.
Harrison-Murray now begins a new chapter with Burnley ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. After checking in at Burnley Training Centre, she said: “I’m really excited to get going.
“I’ve followed Burnley’s journey for a few years now and I think going full-time in tier three was a massive statement in itself.
“A few of my friends have played here as well, and it seems like a really exciting project that’s a good fit for me. I’m looking forward to getting back on the pitch again, kicking a ball, meeting my new team-mates, and connecting with them to understand what their strengths are and how I can support them.”
Burnley have also completed the signing of Deanna Cooper ahead of the new Barclays Women’s Super League 2 season.
The experienced defender has swapped the northeast for the northwest after joining from Newcastle United. Cooper has signed a two-year contract, with Burnley holding the option to extend the deal by a further 12 months following her departure from Newcastle in June.
