Liverpool’s search for long-term depth at right-back has produced plenty of names this summer.

And now another exciting young talent has entered the conversation.
Givairo Read.
According to reports from the Netherlands, the Feyenoord full-back could be available for around €25 million (£21.3 million).
If that figure is accurate, Liverpool should at least be asking the question.
A Modern Full-Back
Read has quickly developed a reputation as one of the Eredivisie’s brightest young defenders.
Still only 19 years old, he already possesses many of the qualities modern full-backs need:
● Outstanding pace.
● Excellent stamina.
● Confidence in possession.
● Willingness to attack.
● Strong recovery speed.
For a player so young, his maturity has impressed many observers.
A Perfect Fit for Iraola?
One reason the link makes sense is Andoni Iraola’s style of football.
The Liverpool head coach demands enormous energy from his full-backs.
They are expected to:
● Press high.
● Overlap consistently.
● Recover quickly.
● Support attacks.
● Win the ball back aggressively.
Those are exactly the areas where Read appears to excel.
Rather than being a traditional defensive full-back, he looks comfortable playing in an aggressive, high-tempo system.
Competition for Conor Bradley
One of the biggest questions Liverpool face is whether Conor Bradley needs genuine competition.
Bradley has shown enormous promise whenever fit.
However, Liverpool will play across multiple competitions, and relying on one young right-back over an entire season carries obvious risks.
Signing Read would not necessarily block Bradley’s development.
Instead, it could create healthy competition while giving Iraola two athletic, attack-minded options.
£21 Million Looks Good Value
Perhaps the biggest attraction is the reported price.
In today’s market, £21.3 million for one of Europe’s most promising young full-backs could prove to be excellent value.
Liverpool have often been at their best when identifying talented players before their value explodes.
If Read continues developing, that fee could eventually look like a bargain.
There Is Still a Risk
Of course, there are no guarantees.
Moving from Dutch football to the Premier League is a significant step.
The pace.
The physicality.
The pressure.
Every player adapts differently.
Liverpool would also need to decide whether Read is ready to contribute immediately or requires time to develop.
At 19, patience would almost certainly be required.
Should Liverpool Make the Move?
Personally, I think they should seriously consider it.
The reported fee is reasonable.
The profile fits Liverpool’s style.
And the long-term upside is enormous.
Liverpool don’t necessarily need another superstar at right-back.
They need depth, competition and a player capable of growing into the role over the coming years.
Givairo Read appears to tick all of those boxes.
If €25 million really is enough, Liverpool could have an excellent opportunity to strengthen one of the few areas where depth still feels slightly uncertain.
It may not be the headline signing supporters are waiting for.
But it could turn out to be one of the smartest.
