Sunderland repeat Granit Xhaka power play as Man Utd and Chelsea eye Black Cats star

Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki has been linked with moves to three Premier League rivals.

Sunderland have reportedly set their stance over future of midfielder Noah Sadiki after his impressive first season in the Premier League attracted attention from elsewhere.

The Black Cats fought off competition from Leeds United to land the DR Congo international during a frantic summer transfer window 12 months ago and made the former Union Saint-Gilloise man to become part of a new-look midfield ahead of their return to the top flight. Sadiki went on to make 35 appearances in all competitions during his first season at the Stadium of Light as Regis Le Bris’ side secured a seventh placed finish in the Premier League table and landed a place in European competition for only the second time in their history.

Much like midfield partner Granit Xhaka, Sadiki has been linked with a move away from Sunderland in recent weeks with Manchester United said to be keen on the 21-year-old as Michael Carrick looks to transform his options in the middle of the park during the summer transfer window. However, Sadiki still has four years remaining on his current Black Cats contract and that puts Sunderland in a strong position over what could lie ahead as they prepare for their maiden venture into the Europa League during the new season.

Boosted by seeing off interest from Chelsea after they looked to lure captain Xhaka to Stamford Bridge, TeamTalk have now reported Sunderland have set a similar stance over Sadiki, who has impressed during DR Congo’s run to the last 32 of the World Cup finals. They claim the Black Cats have ‘no intention’ of allowing the highly-rated midfielder to depart this summer and have informed Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Sadiki’s representatives of their stance. The report also goes on to claim Black Cats boss Le Bris has ‘made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that Sunderland have the foundations to build on last season’s success’ but has also stressed the core of his squad must remain in place as he looks to challenge on a number of fronts throughout his third season in charge at the Stadium of Light.
