Cody Gakpo’s future continues to generate speculation, but the latest update suggests Liverpool have no intention of letting the Dutch international leave easily.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur have identified Gakpo as a priority target as they look to strengthen their options on the wing.
However, Romano also reports that Liverpool are not currently opening the door to an exit, meaning any potential move remains firmly on hold.

“We have to be patient.”
Tottenham’s Interest Is Understandable
From Tottenham’s perspective, the interest makes perfect sense.
Gakpo is an experienced Premier League attacker who can operate across the front line.

At 27 years old, he is entering the peak years of his career and would strengthen almost any attacking unit in the Premier League.

The most important part of Romano’s update, however, concerns Liverpool’s position.
Despite months of speculation linking Gakpo with a move away, the Reds are reportedly not encouraging his departure.
That suggests Andoni Iraola still sees the Dutch forward as an important member of his squad.
It also aligns with recent reports indicating Liverpool are planning for next season with Gakpo rather than actively looking to sell him.
