Cody Gakpo has been described as one of Tottenham‘s “priorities” as they look to sign a new winger this summer, but Liverpool “are not opening the doors to an exit.”
The Dutchman’s future has been much-discussed since the end of last season after reports that the club would be willing to sell at the right price.
Gakpo could be available for upwards of £60 million, but the latest stance was that Liverpool are still “planning for” next season with him.
Tottenham are known suitors, and transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that the 27-year-old is one of their two “priorities” in the position, alongside Man City‘s Savinho.
Notably, Liverpool have not signalled a desire to sanction an exit.

On his YouTube channel, Romano said: “My understanding is, the main names to take into consideration for Tottenham for the winger positions are Gakpo, but at the moment Liverpool are yet to open doors to an exit, and Savinho.
“These two players are considered priorities for Tottenham for the winger position.”
Savinho is described as the “top target” following long-standing interest from Spurs, while Gakpo remains a key desire for the north London club, even if Liverpool have not shown an inclination to do business.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side have invested heavily after narrowly avoiding relegation, signing Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka.
The left-wing position remains a primary focus for their attack, with Gakpo, Savinho and Rafael Leao all namechecked as targets.
As is often the case, with the exception of Luis Diaz, Liverpool will not sanction an exit without plans in place to source a replacement. An exit for Gakpo would leave the Reds desperately short.
A replacement for Mo Salah has yet to be signed, and with Hugo Ekitike‘s injury and doubts remaining over Federico Chiesa‘s future, Liverpool do not have the luxury of depth in attack.
While reports from Merseyside suggest an exit could be possible at the right price, as it stands, Liverpool’s No. 18 will return for the club’s US tour later this month after his World Cup campaign with the Netherlands ended in the round of 32.
