Arsenal are reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing back Konstantinos Mavropanos following the Greece international's relegation with West Ham. The 28-year-old defender is attracting interest from multiple clubs and could be part of a summer overhaul at the London Stadium.

Mavropanos is not a stranger to the Gunners, having joined from Greek side PAS Giannina for £1.8million in January 2018 as one of Arsene Wenger's last signings.

During his initial spell at the Emirates, he featured just seven times for the first team across two years before heading to German club Nurnberg on loan to gain more playing experience.

He subsequently spent two seasons on loan at Stuttgart before the Bundesliga side made the move permanent in a deal potentially worth £5m in summer 2023. Just 12 months on, he returned to English football when West Ham paid £21m to secure his signature.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal are now considering a move to bring Mavropanos back to north London. The club has kept tabs on the defender's development since his departure.

It's worth noting Arsenal already have several right-footed centre-halves in their ranks, including William Saliba, Cristhian Mosquera and Ben White.

White has been linked with a potential exit this summer amid suggestions he's fallen down the pecking order.

It has also been reported that Arsenal would need to ward off competition from across Europe to secure a return for Mavropanos.

Despite West Ham's relegation to the Championship on the final day of the season, the defender claimed the club's Player of the Year award following an outstanding individual campaign.

Mavropanos netted three crucial goals during the run-in, offering Nuno Espirito Santo's side a fighting chance of avoiding relegation.

However, West Ham ultimately fell short and will compete in the second tier next season for the first time since 2011-12.

Notably, one of those strikes came against Manchester City, which in turn bolstered Arsenal's title aspirations before they eventually lifted the Premier League trophy in May. Reflecting on Mavropanos following that goal, Mikel Arteta hailed him as a 'very, very good character'.

"A player that was signed just before I arrived as well, and he had a long-term injury as well, and he didn't get that many minutes," Arteta explained. "But it's good to see him doing really well."
