Bradley Barcola’s future at Paris Saint Germain is becoming one of the summer’s most talked about sagas, and Liverpool are firmly in the picture.
The French winger has slipped down Luis Enrique’s pecking order, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue now the preferred front three at Parc des Princes.
Barcola was an unused substitute for large stretches of PSG’s Champions League run, including the final win over Arsenal, and that frustration has reportedly pushed him to consider his options once the World Cup ends.
Fabrizio Romano has described Barcola as now sitting at the top of Liverpool’s list, with the club long admirers of the 23 year old.
PSG reportedly value him at around 150 million euros, a fee that would eclipse the British transfer record Liverpool themselves set last summer when they paid 125 million pounds for Alexander Isak.
Naturally, the moment PSG were linked with Ferran Torres, plenty of fans assumed it signalled Barcola was already on his way out.
Djaameel, a French language X account widely regarded as one of the more reliable voices on PSG matters, moved quickly to shut that theory down.
According to him, the Ferran Torres interest is solely about replacing Goncalo Ramos up front following his 74 million euro move to AC Milan.
He was clear that the club had already targeted a new striker before Barcola’s situation became a talking point, and stressed the two files are not linked in any way.
That distinction matters, because it means PSG are not using Ferran Torres as Barcola’s direct replacement, they are simply filling the gap left by Ramos while Barcola’s future is handled separately.
PSG have also been pushing forward on deals for Maghnes Akliouche and Yan Diomande, both of whom would ease the path for Barcola to leave.
Fabrice Hawkins has reported PSG agreed personal terms with Akliouche, while Diomande has made clear he prefers a move to Paris over Liverpool, a blow that has redirected Liverpool’s attention squarely onto Barcola.
Arsenal remain in the conversation too, though most reports now suggest Mikel Arteta’s side are prioritising Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers instead, leaving Liverpool with a clearer run at Barcola if the money can be found.
Not everyone wants to see the move happen.
Marcel Desailly has urged Barcola to stay in Paris and develop further within Enrique’s system rather than jump to the Premier League this early.
Barcola himself was evasive when asked about his future during France’s World Cup campaign, saying only that he is focused on the tournament for now.
With PSG reshaping their entire attack around Ramos’s departure and incoming targets like Akliouche and Diomande, the pieces are falling into place for a Barcola exit, regardless of where the Ferran Torres deal lands.
Whether Liverpool can meet PSG’s valuation remains the final hurdle.
