Manchester United have been advised on why they ought to beat Arsenal to securing Bruno Guimaraes ' signature. The Newcastle United midfielder's future has sparked considerable speculation in recent weeks, with a departure from St. James' Park looking more probable.
Arsenal have positioned themselves as favourites to sign the Brazil international, with claims that an opening bid may have already been turned down.
Additionally, reports suggest Newcastle are holding out for approximately £75million for Guimaraes this summer, with the 28-year-old contracted to the club until 2028.
Earlier this month, it emerged that Guimaraes had indicated his intention to leave Newcastle during the summer window, adding fuel to speculation linking him with a switch to Arsenal.
United have been consistently linked with bolstering their midfield options and have now been told why pursuing Guimaraes for Old Trafford would make sense this summer.
United icon Bryan Robson believes a deal for Guimaraes would represent shrewd business, though he acknowledged the potential difficulties in getting it over the line this summer.
March reports claimed United were 'advancing in talks' to secure Guimaraes in a £69m transaction.
"Bruno Guimaraes would be the right player for Manchester United to replace Casemiro," Robson told Hajper.
"I've always liked him as a captain. He's got a great attitude. He must be a good lad to have around the place. He's carried himself really well at Newcastle.
"You've got to be careful how many players you send forward but the way Bruno Fernandes gets on the ball, Bruno Guimaraes can do the work that Casemiro has done at United because he's such an intelligent player.

"Casemiro got a little bit of stick for not being able to get about the park enough but he was clever too, scored goals with his head and could defend well when he was in the right position, and he was great at passing it forward through to Bruno. Bruno Guimaraes can do all that for you too.
"He's a midfield player who can do a little bit of both, in attacking and in defence, and he's got a very good engine.
"The only question mark is whether he'd be available now this summer. I'd be very surprised if Newcastle sold him in the same summer as Sandro Tonali leaving the club. I'm not sure they'd allow it."
Arsenal have been widely tipped to strengthen their forward line this summer while Guimaraes remains the only name regularly mentioned as a target to bring reinforcements to the midfield options at Mikel Arteta's disposal.
