Liverpool’s midfield has quietly become one of the strongest in European football.
When Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai first arrived at Anfield, there were understandable questions about whether they could replace the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and James Milner.
Fast forward to today, and it’s difficult to imagine Liverpool without them.
The interesting question now is:
How much would it cost to sign them in today’s market?
Ryan Gravenberch
When Liverpool signed Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich in 2023, many believed the Reds had secured a bargain.
Since then, he has developed into one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders, earning a new long-term contract and seeing his market value rise significantly. Recent valuations place him around €90 million, while some independent estimates rate him even higher.
If Liverpool tried to buy the Dutchman today, it is difficult to imagine a club accepting anything under £80–90 million.
Alexis Mac Allister
Mac Allister may well be Liverpool’s most complete midfielder.
The Argentine World Cup winner controls matches, dictates tempo and consistently performs against elite opposition.
Transfer valuations have climbed dramatically, with estimates now placing him between €80 million and well over €100 million, depending on the model used.
Realistically, Liverpool would probably have to pay £90–100 million to sign a player of his current stature.
Dominik Szoboszlai
Szoboszlai has also developed into one of the Premier League’s most valuable attacking midfielders.
His energy, creativity and leadership have made him a central figure in Liverpool’s midfield.
Current market valuations place him around €100 million, reflecting his rise over the past few seasons.
If he were on the market today, a fee in the region of £90–100 million would not seem unrealistic.
A Midfield Worth Nearly £300 Million?
Put those three together and the numbers become remarkable.
A realistic estimate in today’s market could look something like this:
● Ryan Gravenberch — £85 million
● Alexis Mac Allister — £95 million
● Dominik Szoboszlai — £95 million
That gives Liverpool a midfield worth around £275–300 million.
And that’s before even mentioning Florian Wirtz.
Credit Where It’s Due
Liverpool’s recruitment department deserves enormous credit.
The club signed all three before their values reached today’s levels, saving tens of millions of pounds in the process.
It is another reminder that successful recruitment isn’t just about buying great players.
It’s about buying them before everyone else realises just how good they are.
Looking at Liverpool’s midfield today, it’s fair to say they did exactly that.
