Turkish giants Besiktas have agreed a £17 million deal with Arsenal for the transfer of forward Leandro Trossard.
However, the move was delayed due to his involvement with Belgium at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Following Belgium’s 2-1 defeat to Spain on Friday, more details have emerged on the move.
The 31-year-old is now set to travel to Istanbul next Wednesday to complete the deal, according to Turkish outlet Haber Kartali.
Trossard will sign a three-year contract plus an option to extend it further for 12 months. He will also earn €9 million per year plus bonuses.
Trossard has been a good signing for Arsenal
Trossard may not leave as an Arsenal legend, but he will be fondly remembered for several memorable moments.
He assisted all Arsenal’s three goals in a 3-0 Premier League win at Fulham in March 2023, becoming the first player in the competition’s history to register a hat-trick of assists in the first half of an away game.
Trossard also scored a late equaliser in the Gunners’ 1-1 Community Shield draw with Manchester City in 2023, before Mikel Arteta’s side went on to win the trophy on penalties.
In the same season, the former Brighton star scored to help Arsenal end a six-year winless streak at Everton. He also found the net in a 2-2 comeback draw at Chelsea, and scored the decisive goal in the Champions League round of 16 tie against FC Porto.
The story of Arsenal’s Premier League triumph last season cannot be told without the Belgian. He netted the only goal in a 1-0 win at West Ham United, a result that proved crucial in the title race.
Overall, he has featured in 174 matches across all competitions for the Gunners, chipping in with 36 goals and 34 assists.
Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis is expected to be Trossard’s replacement, with Arsenal close to sealing a £35m move for the Greek winger.
