Andoni Iraola's maiden summer at the Liverpool helm has been relatively subdued so far.
However, that appears poised to change as the Reds set their sights on mounting a Premier League title challenge this coming season. Liverpool has already bolstered its ranks with two significant acquisitions following Jeremy Jacquet's pre-arranged move to Merseyside.
The defender has been joined by the unexpected arrival of Osasuna winger Victor Munoz. There is further business on the horizon, too, as Iraola looks to leave his own imprint on the squad. Liverpool.com has examined the latest whispers from Anfield this weekend as the English team looks to accelerate its transfer activity.
Liverpool 'make contact' for Gomes
Liverpool could look to take advantage of Wolves' relegation from the Premier League by pursuing midfielder Joao Gomes, with the Reds reportedly having already opened dialogue with his club to push the deal forward.
Gomes, 25, had been linked with a switch to Atletico Madrid before a dispute with agent Jorge Mendes, who was facilitating the transfer, brought negotiations to a halt.
This could hand Liverpool the opportunity to swoop for the 10-cap Brazil international should the club choose to act.

Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte has reported that both Liverpool and Manchester United have approached Wolves about a potential deal. Both clubs have sought clarity on the asking price, with the player understood to be valued at around £38 million ($50 million).
Gomes has considerable appeal to Premier League sides, owing to his familiarity with England's top flight. The former Flamengo prospect retained an impressive standing at Molineux despite the club enduring a difficult few seasons.
Reds holding firm on Gakpo
Liverpool is reportedly "not opening the doors" to Cody Gakpo leaving Anfield this summer despite interest from Tottenham. The Reds forward has been heavily linked with a move to north London, yet the club has no intention of sanctioning a sale.
That's according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who says Spurs' primary target for the wide position is Manchester City's Savinho. Speculation surrounding Gakpo's future has intensified following the Netherlands' elimination from the World Cup, though he is expected to rejoin Iraola's squad for preseason preparations before long.
Speaking on his latest transfer update, Romano said on his official YouTube channel: "Guys, my understanding is the main names to take into consideration for Tottenham for the winger positions are Cody Gakpo, but at the moment Liverpool are yet to open doors to an exit, and Savinho.

"Savinho is a top target for Tottenham. These two players are considered priorities for Tottenham for the winger position.
"I'm not saying they are joining, because this depends on negotiations, but Savinho is number one, two and three because Tottenham already wanted one year ago. If you remember, in my videos, I always told you this.
"Then Cody Gakpo is a desire of Tottenham, but at the moment Liverpool are not opening the doors to an exit, so we have to be patient."
