Curtis Jones has moved to shut down claims a move from Liverpool has been agreed with a response on social media, days before he returns for pre-season.
Jones’ future has been subject to speculation throughout the summer, but as it stands the midfielder is set to report back at the AXA Training Centre next week.
The 25-year-old has seen two bids from Inter Milan turned down, while interest from the Premier League has emerged in both Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.
Reports in Italy on Saturday claimed that an agreement had been reached for Jones to join Forest, scuppering a potential switch to Inter.
But responding to a post from Liverpool aggregator Anfield Watch on Instagram, the Scouser appeared to shut down suggestions a move was in the offing.
Jones simply replied with a raised eyebrow emoji, reflecting his bafflement at the latest claims over his future.
While his contract situation – a year left with no extension talks ongoing – will only feed doubts on whether he will stay at Liverpool, it seems as though the situation is not exactly as portrayed in the media.
The academy graduate is known to have explored a move to Italy, but the club’s stance is that they would only reluctant sellers if they price tag is met.

Liverpool value Jones at upwards of £35 million, which is significantly higher than Inter were willing to offer, with the Milan club bidding £17.3 million and £21.7 million so far.
Their failure in negotiations means Jones will be back at the AXA for the start of pre-season on July 14 and should travel with Andoni Iraola‘s side for the USA tour.
Iraola will hold his first press conference as head coach on Monday morning and his plans for Jones could be among the questions on the agenda.

With only a year remaining on his deal Liverpool face losing their No. 17 on a free next summer, unless either a transfer is agreed in the current window or a new contract is finalised.
Talks over fresh terms are not yet taking place but have not been ruled out if he stays at Anfield beyond the September 1 deadline.
Only three players in Iraola’s squad – Virgil van Dijk (374), Alisson (333) and Joe Gomez (274) – have made more first-team appearances than Jones (228), which sums up his continued importance.
