We asked Newcastle United supporters whether they think Bruno Guimaraes will stay or go.
Guimaraes is open to leaving and has reportedly informed the club of his desire to join Premier League champions Arsenal.
The Magpies are yet to receive an approach from the Gunners and nor would they welcome one, with little intention of letting the midfielder go.
While their stance is strong, it was the same on Alexander Isak last summer, only for the Swede to go on strike and force his £130million British record move to Liverpool.
Guimaraes isn’t expected to stoop to those levels but if he feels strongly about departing, then it leaves Newcastle’s hierarchy with a decision to make.
Newcastle United fans react to Bruno Guimaraes reports
We asked our NewcastleWorld readers on Facebook whether they think Guimaraes will stay or leave, and the majority of responses suggested they believe he will go.
Gregg Tucker: 75-80 million for a guy approaching 29... he wants to go and thanks to FFP and PIF, who can blame him? He's been amazing for us.
Danny Avery: Love Bruno but at 29 years old, he wants to play Champions League again, and he will not get that at Newcastle for a while yet. So cash in 65 to 75 million and Kepa.
Jennie Giusti: He will leave for sure. He loves NUFC and it's fans but I feel just like Gordon and Tonali, Bruno needs and deserves bigger sadly.
Neil Armstrong: It’s probably the right time to sell him while he is still high value rather than keeping him for a season or two longer when his value will be considerably lower.
Colin Routledge: It's highly likely he'll be away...Hopefully, the club will avoid relegation next season. The guts have been removed from the team.. however you never know in football...
Denise Wilson: I really want him to stay, but I don't think he will. It's his decision at the end of the day.
There are, however, still plenty of supporters who haven’t given up hope of Guimaraes staying and even signing a new contract.
James Hogg: NUFC will make an improved offer to stay…it’s all about money for these world-class players and I don’t blame them…they are over by 34 mostly so make hay whilst the sun shines. I believe he genuinely likes NUFC but money is powerful and so is playing in the champs league . But if Howe is as good a man manager as we believe he is, they will find a way.
Eileen Hair: If he is a man of his word then he will be staying and until it is official from the horses mouth.
Diane Hood: Hope Bruno stays he is the heart of Newcastle and a superstar we. Need him to stay please, leave our players alone.
Paul Wilson: i would like to think we could convince him for 12 more months enhanced pay rise with agreement to let him go for next season.
