Arsenal want to sign £130m star in next 7 days, Berta is working to sign him and Rogers - report

The summer transfer window is shaping up to be a big one for Arsenal and Morgan Rogers isn't the only high-profile name who could arrive at the Emirates.

After winning the Premier League title last season, Mikel Arteta and his transfer chiefs are looking to strengthen their squad. The Gunners missed out on a first-ever Champions League triumph after losing to Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

Rogers is at the top of Arteta's wishlist and GIVEMESPORT sources understand that a deal for the Aston Villa star is expected to be completed. He could be one of two big-money signings to help the North Londoners defend their title.

Arsenal Want Quick Alvarez Deal

According to Miguel Delaney of The Independent, Arsenal are pushing to try and seal a quick deal for Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez. The Argentine striker is pushing to leave Diego Simeone's side and is "open" to joining the Gunners.

Alvarez has preferred to remain in Spain and join either Barcelona or Real Madrid. Atleti have shown a reluctance to sell to their top rivals with a series of jibes on social media about their interest in the player.

Paris Saint-Germain have also previously targeted the former Manchester City man but they appear to have only tested the situation. That could give Arsenal a golden opportunity to land one of the world's most highly-regarded attackers.

The 26-year-old is currently busy representing Argentina at the World Cup and scored a stunning strike in a 3-1 win over Switzerland. He'll come up against England in the semi-finals on Wednesday and Arteta may be inclined to watch him in action.

Delaney noted that a prior issue for the Gunners was Atletico's asking price of over £100m. They ideally don't want to go above £90m and a pursuit will see sporting director Andrea Berta negotiate with his former employers.

If they decide to sign the Argentine, they will do so with the aim of having him link up with Arteta's squad for pre-season. The Premier League club's pre-season preparations start on Monday (July 20).

A Huge Fee For The Gunners to Consider

Julian Alvarez

The price is clearly the main stumbling block for Arsenal, who will want to ensure they have enough money to address other areas of Arteta's squad. With Rogers likely to cost £80m, anything north of £100m could prove problematic.

Real Madrid failed with a £130m bid for Alvarez earlier this summer, which only further casts doubts. He's a player Arteta clearly likes and has admired for some time but it's unclear whether the club are ready to smash their transfer record.

The North London giants are also keen on signing Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. GIVEMESPORT sources understand that the club are set to hold formal talks and the Magpies value him at around £80-90m.
