Arsenal star Leandro Trossard is reportedly closing in on a move away from the club this summer after his country's elimination from the FIFA World Cup. The forward played in every one of Belgium's games as they lost to Spain in the quarter-final of the tournament.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Turkish giants Besiktas are on the verge of reaching an agreement on personal terms with Trossard. Their negotiations are at an advanced stage, with the club to club agreement already resolved between both clubs over a transfer fee.
Leandro Trossard was at the FIFA World Cup with Belgium when Besiktas reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign him for a reported fee of €20 million. The Turkish side will pay €18 million guaranteed, with €2 million set to be in the form of add-ons for the versatile forward.
Trossard joined Arsenal in January 2023 after the club's failed attempt to sign Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk. The Belgium international turned out to be a shrewd addition to Mikel Arteta's squad and quickly became a regular in the team.
Leandro Trossard has played 174 times for the Gunners, more than he has managed for any single club in his professional career so far, and scored 36 goals. He scored the goal that essentially clinched the Premier League title for the club in their 1-0 win over West Ham back in May.
Trossard played six times at the FIFA World Cup this summer, scoring two goals and providing two assists. He will now likely continue his career in Türkiye, with the Gunners looking to bring in another player on the left wing.
Arsenal stars set to face off in FIFA World Cup semi-finals
Premier League champions Arsenal will be well-represented at the penultimate round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the quarter-final matches were concluded. France overcame Morocco, with Spain defeating Belgium and England defeating Norway, while Argentina sent Switzerland out.
In the first semi-final, Arsenal defender William Saliba will face a number of his club teammates in the Spain squad. La Roja have David Raya, Martin Zubimendi, and quarter-final match-winner Mikel Merino in their squad for the FIFA World Cup this summer.
In the second semi-final, England's Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke will face Argentina. The reigning champions do not have any players from the Gunners, but goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was on the books for many years.
