Arsenal Are 'Close To Completing An Agreement' With Club For £35M Rated Forward - Report

Arsenal only need to give the “final go-ahead” to secure the signature of Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, according to reports.

The Sun claim that the Gunners are “close to completing an agreement” that would see the Greek international move to the Emirates for £35m.

Tzolis is being targeted as the replacement for Leandro Trossard, who has an offer on the table from Besiktas.

The Belgian is expected to make a decision imminently on whether he wants to make the switch to Turkey. A fee of around €20m (£17m) has already been agreed.

Tzolis is “not the marquee signing”

Speaking on his YouTube channel earlier this week, The Athletic‘s James McNicholas was keen to emphasise that Arsenal are looking for another forward, in addition to Tzolis.

He made it clear that the 24-year-old is “not the marquee signing”, with sporting director Andrea Berta hard at work in trying to snap up Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Agreement on personal terms is thought to be close, but the main stumbling block continues to be the England international’s asking price, which is some way north of £100m.

The main alternative to Rogers – Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola – is expected to cost a similar amount of money.

Are Arsenal planning moves for any other players?

The Gunners confirmed the arrival of Illan Meslier on a free transfer earlier this week. The Frenchman has been signed in anticipation of Kepa Arrizabalaga’s exit.

Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes also remains a top target for manager Mikel Arteta, while the Premier League champions are likely to bring in a new right-back between now and the end of the summer as well.

Including Meslier, it looks like up to five additions will be made before the transfer window closes, but it will be up to Berta to get the deals over the line.
