Inter Milan are expected to submit a revised offer for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones in the coming days, having seen their latest £21.7 million bid rebuffed.
Jones has so far seen offers worth £17.3 million and £21.7 million from Inter turned down, with Liverpool holding firm on their £35 million valuation.
While that appeared to have deterred the Italian club and potentially opened the door for Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, they are now understood to be readying a new bid.
talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs writes on X that Inter are “currently discussing a new proposal” after their previous approach was “instantly rejected.”
Liverpool are “waiting for new formal talks” having been led to believe that a deal would not be possible given the low-ball offers received.

While there is a willingness to keep Jones and a new contract has not been ruled out if he stays at Anfield beyond the summer, given Jones has entered the final year of his current deal offers will be considered.
It is unlikely that Liverpool will budge considerably on their £35 million price tag and that would mean Inter needing to almost double their most recent bid.
Jones is known to have explored a move to Italy and is clearly open to leaving his boyhood club despite a change in the dugout with Arne Slot sacked.
Whether his outlook will change following talks with Andoni Iraola remains to be seen, as it is possible the new head coach is planning a key role for the Scouser.
He has already shut down reports that a deal has been agreed with Forest, with Jones responding to claims on Instagram with an eyebrow-raised emoji.

In an interview with LFCTV on the final day of last season, the 25-year-old spoke of his motivation for another year at Liverpool, saying: “I’m excited [for] next season, it should be great.
“We can put everything behind us and just go and enjoy it. Go and play free.”
Jones added: “The important thing, as I said, is that this club is huge on sticking as one, and our family, and the fans are always there.
“It’s important that we got in the Champions League, and so next year, it’ll be exciting again.”
