Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister says Gilberto Mora must be “a great player” if he is being linked with a move to Anfield.
Reports in the Mexican media claim that the Reds and Arsenal could trigger a release clause in the 17-year-old’s contract. Asked about the transfer rumour, Mac Allister replied:

“Honestly, I didn’t see anything about it. When these things happen, you’re always careful what you say, out of respect for the player and the club he belongs to.”
“But if he’s being linked with Liverpool, he’ll surely be a great player, and there’s a reason they’re mentioning him.”
Liverpool would have watched his displays at the World Cup
Mora has been playing professionally for the best part of two years, and he has broken several records in the process. He is the youngest player in Club Tijuana’s history, and he is also the youngest player ever to receive a senior cap for Mexico.
At the World Cup, he turned heads with some eye-catching displays, starting the final group game against Czechia, as well as two knockout-round ties versus Ecuador and England.
Reds scouts would have taken note of Mora’s contributions, along with several other European teams.

Mora can’t move to Europe before the start of next year
The Mexican international won’t turn 18 until October, so there is no prospect of a deal being finalised before the summer transfer window closes.
Rules stipulate that Premier League clubs cannot sign foreign players below the age of 18, but it doesn’t necessarily stop them from securing a pre-agreement.
The existence of a release clause (which is reportedly worth €25m/£21.3m) could also push clubs to make an early move for Mora.
