Recent Arsenal news suggests Mikel Arteta has chosen Ezri Konsa as a top target this summer. However, Aston Villa have set up a hefty price, making the move a tough task for the North London club.

The 28-year-old player has become a hot topic in this transfer window. As reported by Football Insider, Aston Villa demand at least £50 million to consider a sale of their backline anchor.
Unai Emery’s team are highly unwilling to lose their star defender this summer. The hefty price tag suggests Villa are aiming to fend off interest and retain the player this summer. However, as reported by CaughtOffside, the Gunners are keeping tabs on Konsa. The defender is on World Cup duty with England at present.
In contrast, some reports also suggest Villa could look into offers of around £35 million. But sources inside Villa claim that figure wouldn’t even get close to their actual estimate. The Premier League winners are stepping up their pursuit of the English centre-back, but Villa’s high asking price could delay any deal.

He can play well as either a centre-back or a right-back, which makes him very versatile. Konsa was the pillar of Villa’s defence during their 2026 Europa League victory. On the football pitch, he shows great defensive timing and concentration.
Right now, he is tearing it up for England at the World Cup. As per The Telegraph, Konsa won every ground duel against Mexico in the Round of 16. He also hit 93% passing accuracy.
This impressive form has caught the eye of Mikel Arteta. Arteta values the player’s positional range for his squad. The boss also sees him as a backup for Saliba and White. Saliba is playing through an injury at the World Cup. Meanwhile, reports have linked Ben White with a likely move away from Arsenal this summer.

Meanwhile, Konsa serves as the vice-captain under Emery and plays a vital role in the dressing room. If he departs, the impact on the squad would be massive. Emery would need to find an urgent backup for the player, as he provides cover across many defensive roles. The North London club are also looking for a possible double raid. Reports suggest they might go for both Konsa and Villa’s winger Morgan Rogers. The combined price for both players could reach as much as £180 million.
