Liverpool release teaser video ahead of pre-season return

Liverpool will begin pre-season at the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday as Andoni Iraola prepares to work with a number of first-team players ahead of the new campaign.

While the World Cup continues in the background, Liverpool will return to action on July 14 to begin a new era under Iraola.

Several players will be unavailable, including Alexis Mac Allister and new signing Victor Munoz, who remain on international duty in the United States.

However, Iraola is expected to have a strong group available from the first day of training, with around 15 first-team players set to report to the AXA.

It will be the first opportunity for Iraola to meet several key members of his squad, including Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and Milos Kerkez.

Kostas Tsimikas, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa are also expected to return. Iraola addressed the media at the club’s training ground on Monday ahead of Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States, where the team will be based in Chicago.

The 44-year-old said: “I’m looking at the positives almost, because I’ve had now one week to see every training of the U21s.

“We’ve had some of the players from the first team willing to come a little bit before so they are already in a better shape to start. Already today, that they didn’t have to come, I’ve seen two or three that I haven’t seen before, that they are already here, ready for the testing tomorrow.

“So, I think this progressive introduction also will allow me maybe to get more in touch with every player. And also will give especially the young players, some players that have been on loan, more minutes during pre-season.

“The first part of pre-season, basically, it’s going to be with a lot of players from the Academy, players that in another situation, maybe I wouldn’t know as well, and now I will have the chance to get to know them personally, training every day with them, in some friendlies, and it’s going to be good information for me.”

The Reds will travel to Nashville and New York for friendlies against Sunderland and Wrexham before facing Leeds United at Soldier Field.

Liverpool have already spent close to £100million on Victor Munoz (£34.5m) and Jeremy Jacquet (£60m), but further additions are expected.

Finding a replacement for Mohamed Salah remains a priority, although the club are targeting a different profile of winger.

Ahead of the squad’s return, Liverpool have released a teaser video to mark the start of pre-season preparations. The Reds will conclude their 2026-27 pre-season schedule with two fixtures at Anfield, hosting AS Monaco on Sunday, August 9, and Como 1907 on Sunday, August 16.
