Mikel Arteta has parted ways with Leandro Trossard
Leandro Trossard is due to leave Arsenal to join Besiktas after spending more than three years with the North London side, the club have confirmed.
It's understood that the Turkish giants will pay the Premier League champions €18million plus €2m in add-ons (£17million total) to secure the services of the Belgium international.
Arsenal released a statement on Tuesday, which read: "We have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard. We will provide a further update once the transfer has been completed."
The 31-year-old joined the Gunners from top-flight rivals Brighton in January 2023 and became a popular player at the Emirates Stadium. He made more than 100 league appearances and helped them win their first Premier League title crown in 22 years last season.
He'll be fondly remembered by Gunners fans for scoring the only goal in the crucial 1-0 win over West Ham in May, a result that proved decisive in their title triumph. Trossard made 174 appearances in total, scoring 36 goals.
Trossard had been featuring at this summer's World Cup where he was a key part of the Belgium squad that reached the quarter-finals before their elimination at the hands of one of the Arsenal man's club teammates Mikel Merino.
Trossard has been known for scoring plenty of clutch goals in big moments. Merino will be looked upon next season to take on such a void left, in this sense, by Trossard.
football.london understands Arsenal wish to strengthen their forward line, particularly on the left-hand side. Several players are under consideration, including Morgan Rogers, Bradley Barcola and Christos Tzolis.
