Chelsea have already secured some sales this summer – Marc Cucurella has gone to Real Madrid, Andrey Santos to Man U, and Tyrique George to Everton. But given how many players still need to be shifted, they’re still behind schedule.

The Athletic’s Deal Sheet today is a good reminder of how much work there is to be done in this window, on the outgoing side alone.

They claim that Chelsea are working with Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi to find them new clubs. Filip Jorgensen is also for sale, as is Gabriel Slonina and David Datro Fofana.

Marc Guiu will be loaned or sold, while the odd one out of the striker department of Nicolas Jackson, Emmanuel Emegha and Liam Delap. Plus there’s Alejandro Garnacho, who seems surprisingly close to a departure despite his poor year at Stamford Bridge.

All in all, we wouldn’t be surprised too see six or seven further sales before the window closes. The chances of the “bomb squad” being reinstated less than a year after it was finally dissolved are looking pretty strong. FIFA rules have made it harder to do what they were doing before, but they can still put a lot pressure on players they want to find an exit.
