Arsenal confirm Leandro Trossard exit to Besiktas

[Arsenal](https://www.vavel.com/en/data/arsenal/) have confirmed that an agreement has been reached for **Leandro Trossard** to join **Besiktas**.

The 31-year-old is set to join the Turkish Super Lig side for a fee in the region of **£17m**, slightly less than the club paid for him in **January 2023**.

Trossard leaves Arsenal with **174 appearances**, including **36 goals** – one of which ultimately ended the Gunners’ **22-year wait for a Premier League title**.

A cheaper alternative to Mudryk

-------------------------------

When Trossard joined Arsenal in January 2023, it was a signing that was seen as an alternative to **Mykhaylo Mudryk**, who ultimately swapped Shakhtar Donetsk for Chelsea in a deal worth a staggering **£88.5m**.

A comparison of both players’ time at their respective clubs highlights how Arsenal made the correct decision to sign the Belgian.

Trossard has made **101 more appearances**, scored more than three times as many goals and contributed to a league title.

While Mudryk has had to face accusations of the use of performance-enhancing drugs, resulting in his banning from the sport, Trossard has racked up numbers that the Ukrainian would have done well to match.

Arsenal to line up a winger

---------------------------

With Trossard now on his way to Istanbul, Arsenal will more than likely sign a replacement.

Club Brugge’s **Christos Tzolis** has been linked with a move to North London as well as **Morgan Rogers**.

Rogers is said to be at the top of the Gunners’ shortlist while Tzolis is seen as a versatile wide man who can deputise well when called upon.

The Greek forward recorded over **50 goal contributions** for his club last season while Rogers starred for an **Aston Villa** side that became Europa League Champions in May.

It remains to be seen who Arsenal will opt for, but the replacement will have to live up to the highs that Trossard provided during his time in red.
