New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye showed a major jump from season one to season two in the NFL. He completed 72.0% of his passes for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns, and eight interceptions last season. Maye also rushed for 450 yards on 103 carries and four touchdowns, along with averaging 4.4 yards per carry.

Maye is only 23 years old and was edged by Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford for the MVP Award last season. He didn’t have a lot to work with last season. Somehow, New England went 14-3 and made it to the Super Bowl before losing to the Seattle Seahawks. Maye will have a better offensive line and more wide receiver help this season, but they will have a tougher schedule. Maye will have wide receiver A.J. Brown to throw to this season after the Patriots acquired him in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. Brown reunites with head coach Mike Vrabel.

Many different NFL coordinators, coaches, and executives interviewed with ESPN.com NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler about the top quarterbacks in the NFL. One NFL coordinator said about Maye,
“Size, athleticism, accuracy, playmaking upside through the roof, poise and toughness. He had zero weapons and a shaky OL, and made it all work.”
It will be interesting to see how things will work for him in his third NFL season. If Maye continues to grow in his third NFL season, then he is going to lead this Patriots franchise to a Super Bowl title down the road. Things will be hard for them this season, but it will be easier for them after that.
