David Ornstein has provided an update on Ayyoub Bouaddi and whether Liverpool could indeed make a move.
Ayyoub Bouaddi arrived at the World Cup as a highly‑rated Ligue 1 prospect, but his performances for Morocco have pushed him firmly into the continental spotlight, with Liverpool among the clubs tracking his rise closely.

The Reds have been monitoring the holding midfielder for some time, with scouts reportedly present at Lille’s European matches over the course of the season. Liverpool’s interest is said to be serious.
Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City are also keeping tabs on the teenager.
In fact, City are believed to be the club most advanced as things stand are in talks for a deal that could end up being worth €100 million.
Speaking on the Athletic FC podcast, David Ornstein explained that Liverpool “love” the Moroccan international but could likely only happen if somebody in midfield departs the club this summer:
“A lot of speculation about midfield. That would only be one that might happen if somebody leaves and Ayyoub Bouaddi who we talked about before, Liverpool are among the clubs that love him, as I said previously who doesn’t, so we will have to see on that one.”
Lille president Olivier Létang is described as “ready to sell” Bouaddi but is holding firm on a minimum price of around €70m, with the possibility of that figure increasing further if a full bidding war breaks out.
On top of that, the French side are seeking tricky conditions: either a one‑year loan‑back for the 2026/27 season or a pre‑agreement that would see Bouaddi officially move in 2027/28.
The club clearly admire Bouaddi and are among those who “love” his profile, but a deal at those numbers – and on Lille’s preferred terms – would almost certainly require a midfield departure.
As things stand, it leaves Manchester City and other heavy hitters in pole position, while Liverpool’s interest remains conditional.
