When Burrow was on the field last season for Cincinnati, he completed 66.8% of his passes for 1,809 yards, 17 touchdowns, and five interceptions in eight games played. Burrow also rushed for 41 yards on 14 carries and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 2.9 yards per carry. He is 29 years old. Burrow has been to two AFC Championship Games in his NFL career and has also been to a Super Bowl. There is no doubt that he is a top five quarterback in the NFL. Burrow is ranked as the fourth-best quarterback in the NFL entering the 2026 NFL season on espn.com. ESPN.com NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler interviewed with many different coordinators, coaches, and executives across the league about the top quarterbacks in the sport. One NFL coordinator made a harsh truth about the Bengals and said,
“Burrow doesn’t play in a system. He is the system. He’s the whole thing.”
There are people who believe that Burrow is the reason why Taylor still has a job. The injury he had last season was an excuse to keep Taylor for another season. Before Burrow arrived, it was Taylor’s first season as a head coach for the Bengals, and they landed the number one pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Burrow does make the head coach look good.
There will be a lot of pressure on Taylor, Burrow, and company to win early this season. Cincinnati will open the season at home this season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
