The Miami Dolphins are heading into the 2026 NFL season with a very clear issue on their roster at the wide receiver position.
Jalen Tolbert, Malik Washington, Tutu Atwell, and a trio of rookies make up the current WR room. It's clear the Dolphins should add someone this offseason to further improve the passing options for Malik Willis.
Bleacher Report's Moe Moton proposed a trade idea that could help resolve this issue. This potential trade would have the Dolphins parting with a mid-round pick to land a former first-round Carolina Panthers WR in draft bust Xavier Legette.

This trade idea is one that would make a ton of sense for Miami. With a clear need in the WR room, adding help this offseason should be high on the list of to-dos.
While Legette might be considered a bust right now, after posting just 860 receiving yards in two seasons after being a first-round pick of the Panthers in 2024, he still has potential.
The 25-year-old receiver is worth taking a chance on, especially since the Dolphins need receiver options and cheap ones like Legette are their ideal targets.

He's on his rookie contract through the 2027 season, with a 2028 fifth-year option. That gives the Dolphins three seasons of control, and maybe more, if he comes to Miami and thrives.
Legette hasn't found his footing in Carolina, and with Jalen Coker and Tetairoa McMillan thriving, the Panthers can justify trading Legette this offseason.
He had a disappointing 2025 season, and the Dolphins could try taking advantage, landing the 2024 first-rounder in a trade to bolster their league-worst WR room.
This trade idea would make a ton of sense, and while a mid-round pick, likely Round 4 or 5, wouldn't be cheap, the upside of such a trade is worth making for Miami.
