Arsenal have "established parameters" over deal to sign 22-goal star

Arsenal are exploring a move for Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners have recently confirmed the departure of Leandro Trossard to Besiktas. The Belgium international has completed his medical and will soon sign a long-term contract.

Tzolis has been widely mentioned as a potential replacement for the 31-year-old, and The Athletic claim that Arsenal have ‘established parameters of a deal’ for the former Norwich City ace.

The Gunners must now determine whether to proceed with the transfer.

Arsenal have a big decision to make on Tzolis

The 24-year-old had a stellar campaign with Brugge in Belgium. He notched up an impressive tally of 22 goals and 29 assists from 52 appearances across all competitions.

There are still doubts over Tzolis’ ability to succeed at the highest level, but he proved his credentials in the Champions League last term with goal involvements against Atletico, Barcelona and Atalanta.

A £35 million package has been discussed for a transfer, but the Gunners have yet to lodge a formal proposal. With Trossard on his way out, the club’s hierarchy now have a big decision to make.

Tzolis has already given the green light for the transfer. The Greek barely impressed as a teenager at Norwich, and he may want the opportunity to prove his worth during the prime of his career.

If Arsenal pursue a more proven alternative, Barcelona’s Ferran Torres could emerge as a possible target, given the Blaugrana have opened the door to sanction his departure in the transfer window.

However, he may not accept the role of a deputy left winger, which Tzolis appears prepared for. Arsenal continue to target Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers for the starting position on the left wing.
