The starting quarterback of an NFL franchise is widely expected to be the face of the franchise and the leader of the team. Not only is quarterback the highest paid position on the field, but they are responsible for knowing everyone else’s job on any given play.
Their importance to the game has made many quarterbacks celebrity type figures in the eyes of fans. That is what makes this latest case one of the bigger storylines in the league.

Starting NFL Quarterback Sees Investigation Go “Inactive”
According to ESPN’ Rich Cimini:
Update from Davie (Fla) police: The Geno Smith case, stemming from a June 21 dispute with a woman at his home, has been declared inactive by police.
The investigation has concluded and no charges are being brought. Future investigative action is contingent on additional information or evidence being brought forward, per a police spokesperson.
“No further investigative steps can be reasonably taken with the information presently available,” per the investigator’s report.
Police in Florida are no longer investigating Smith for the June incident. Whether Smith will face any discipline from the NFL remains to be seen. As the Jets’ undisputed starting quarterback, the 35-year-old is set to start training camp on July 28. The backup role behind Smith will be contested by Cade Klubnik, Brady Cook, and Bailey Zappe.
