Liverpool’s preparations for the new campaign are continuing, with members of the first-team squad returning to training at the AXA Training Centre.
The Reds have begun their pre-season work with a mixture of senior players and academy talents involved, as the squad builds fitness and prepares for the challenges ahead.
First-Team Players Back In Training
The goalkeeping group included Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi as Liverpool’s keepers began their work ahead of the new season.
In defence, the training group featured Milos Kerkez, Joe Gomez, Kostas Tsimikas, Jeremy Jacquet and Jeremie Frimpong.
The defensive unit will be an important area of focus during pre-season, with Liverpool looking to build consistency and competition across the back line.
Joe Gomez will be aiming for a strong period of fitness after injury issues, while Tsimikas and the rest of the defensive options look to impress during the early weeks of preparation.
Midfield Competition Builds
Liverpool’s midfielders involved included Trey Nyoni, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, James McConnell and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Szoboszlai will be looking to continue his development and play an important role in the team, while Curtis Jones remains a key homegrown option within the squad.
The presence of young players such as Nyoni and McConnell once again highlights Liverpool’s commitment to developing academy talent and giving promising players opportunities around the first-team environment.
Chiesa And Ngumoha Among Attacking Players Involved
Federico Chiesa was among the attacking players back in training alongside exciting youngster Rio Ngumoha.
Chiesa’s future has been the subject of speculation this summer, with reports linking him with a possible return to Serie A, but the winger remains part of the Liverpool squad as preparations begin.
Ngumoha continues to attract attention after his rapid rise through the academy ranks and will be hoping to make the most of every opportunity during pre-season.
Injured Players Continue Their Recovery
A number of injured players were also present at the AXA Training Centre as they continue their rehabilitation programmes.
Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, Stefan Bajcetic and Hugo Ekitike were all seen at the training ground while working towards their returns.
Liverpool will be hoping the group can make progress over the coming weeks and become available as soon as possible.
Pre-Season Begins With Plenty Of Competition
With a blend of experienced players and emerging young talents, Liverpool’s early training sessions provide an insight into the squad preparing for the new campaign.
There is still plenty of work to be done before the season begins, but the return of the players marks an important step as Liverpool look to start strongly under Andoni Iraola.
The coming weeks will give players the chance to impress, build fitness and stake their claim for a place in the team.
