Isaiah McDuffie will remain with the Green Bay Packers after the organization announced a contract extension for the veteran linebacker ahead of the 2026 NFL season. The move reinforces the team’s commitment to maintaining continuity on defense as it prepares for another campaign with postseason expectations.
McDuffie has steadily earned a larger role since arriving in Green Bay, developing into one of the defense’s most dependable contributors. His consistency, versatility and understanding of the defensive system have made him a valuable member of the linebacker unit, allowing the coaching staff to rely on him in a variety of situations. The former sixth-round draft pick has built his reputation through disciplined play rather than eye-catching statistics. He has consistently demonstrated sound tackling, strong run defense and the ability to execute assignments within the Packers’ defensive scheme. His willingness to contribute on special teams and embrace different responsibilities has further increased his value to the roster over the past several seasons.
Green Bay’s decision also highlights the importance of retaining experienced players who understand the team’s culture and defensive philosophy. Stability has become a priority as the Packers continue building around a young core on both sides of the ball. Keeping familiar contributors in place allows the coaching staff to maintain continuity while reducing the need for significant adjustments entering training camp.

The team has extended McFuffie’s contract ahead of the new season. This can be seen in an update posted by the team’s official website.
The Green Bay Packers have signed LB Isaiah McDuffie to a contract extension. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Monday.
McDuffie (6-1, 227), a sixth-year player out of Boston College, was originally selected by the Packers in the sixth round (No. 220 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He has played in 80 regular-season games for Green Bay with 38 starts, recording 286 tackles (155 solo), 11 tackles for a loss, two sacks, nine QB hits, an interception, five passes defensed and a forced fumble. McDuffie has also contributed on special teams, registering a team-high 34 tackles and a fumble recovery. He is one of only two players in the league (Texans LB E.J. Speed) to appear in 80-plus games and register 275-plus tackles on defense (286) and 30-plus tackles on special teams (34) since 2021. McDuffie has played in five postseason contests, starting two and has posted 14 tackles (eight solo), a half-sack, two QB hits and seven tackles on special teams.
The extension provides additional depth and reliability at linebacker, a position that plays a critical role in defending both the run and the pass. McDuffie’s experience should continue to benefit a defense expected to compete against some of the league’s most explosive offenses. His presence also creates flexibility for defensive coordinators looking to utilize different personnel packages throughout the season.
The Packers continue to demonstrate their belief in rewarding players who develop within the organization and consistently contribute to the team’s success. With his future now secured, McDuffie can shift his focus entirely to helping Green Bay pursue another playoff appearance while continuing to build on the steady progress that earned him a new contract.
