Rams trade idea lands Patriots' 447-yard WR to fix last problem with roster

The Los Angeles Rams have been making massive moves this offseason, swinging multiple huge trades, one with the Cleveland Browns and another with the Kansas City Chiefs.

After landing Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie, the Rams are in fantastic shape for a Super Bowl title run in 2026. But there is one spot that's still a bit of an issue.

To resolve this issue, Bleacher Report's Moe Moton proposed a trade idea that would have the Rams land New England Patriots wide receiver DeMario Douglas. This move would help fix the WR room and would make a ton of sense.

Rams trade idea lands DeMario Douglas from Patriots

"Los Angeles Rams: Trade a late 2027 pick for New England Patriots WR DeMario Douglas," Moton proposed.

With what Moton described as a "wide-open" WR3 spot, the Rams could really use one more receiver. It's the last spot on the roster that really could use a resolution.

Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are fantastic starters, but after that duo, the Rams would turn to Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, CJ Daniels, or Xavier Smith.

Adding Douglas would give the Rams a legitimately good No. 3 wide receiver. Even though Sean McVay is likely to utilize his five solid tight ends more on offense, having a good third receiver is the last thing this team needs to complete a roster.

They could've added Makai Lemon or another rookie WR with the No. 13 draft pick, but took Ty Simpson instead. But if they trade for Douglas, then passing on a WR in the NFL Draft wouldn't be such a terrible decision in retrospect.

That would especially be the case if all it costs is a late 2027 draft pick. Douglas for such a draft pick would be very worth it. He had 447 yards with three touchdowns on 31 receptions last season, and was even better in 2024.

Douglas should be available, especially after the Patriots traded for A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles. Adding Douglas behind Nacua and Adams would complete the roster, resolving the one obvious issue left.

This trade idea from Moton would be a fantastic one for the Rams, and if they could somehow pull it off, it should be a no-brainer for the top Super Bowl contenders.
