Brandon Aiyuk just added fuel to the ongoing criticism against him. Aiyuk signed a 4-year, $120 million extension in August 2024 but in Week 7 of 2024, he suffered a torn ACL and MCL against Kansas City Chiefs. His 2024 season ended immediately. Since then, his relationship with the 49ers turned ugly. He publicly expressed his desire to leave the 49ers and asked the 49ers to trade him or release him.

Brandon Aiyuk recently posted an Instagram story in which he was seen feeding two of his dogs. As one dog aggressively approached the bowl while the other was eating, Aiyuk shoved it away. In the final seconds of the clip, he swung his leg and made contact with the dog’s head or neck area, causing it to recoil before he discarded the bowl.
The video spread rapidly across social media, raising serious concerns for the dogs’ welfare. Many have already pointed to Aiyuk’s behavior as a sign of his careless nature, making it even harder for him to find a new team. This time, he appears to have drawn anger from an entirely different angle with the alleged animal abuse.
Training camp is approaching (veterans report in late July). Reports suggest the 49ers are prepared to release him around that time or shortly after. If released, he would become a free agent, but the ongoing drama, injury history, and off-field issues could significantly limit his market.
