The Houston Texans have standout defensive players. And they have a new running back for 2026. Still, while they got a Super Bowl truth bomb from an insider, there’s a catch, according to a post on X by The Dan Patrick Show.
“If they can run the ball, I mean, I think they'll win the Super Bowl,” Jeremy Fowler said. “I think they have that kind of team.”
Texans have big plans for the 2026 season
There’s no question they have one of the NFL’s best defenses. Furthermore, they may have the best one. But the team still needs to score points. And that means they need to be able to move the football on the ground. They can't rely on quarterback CJ Stroud to get everything done through the air.
However, Fowler said Stroud has the ability he needs to help the team succeed.
“He has a chance to be a fast riser because the tools and the skillset are there,” Fowler said. “I don’t think people are really down on him. The need to be able to run the ball and simplify some things for him. And once they do, his arm talent and his ability can take over.”

Fowler gave reasons for the Texans being in the Super Bowl mix.
“They have the best defense in the league,” he said. “(And) they have talent on offense. They rebuilt their offensive line.”
And their running game will be built on the shoulders of David Montgomery, according to NFL.com.
“He's all-day tough,” offensive coordinator Nick Caley said. “His body of work will speak for itself. Runs behind his pads, stays grounded. Arm tackles aren't getting it done. He's going to try to run through you every single chance. He can set guys up. He understands how to set blocks and to deliver and help deliver defenders to the blocker.
“You look at his pass game production, he's just got a really good feel. He's refined. He takes a lot of pride in his route running. He brings a lot. That's one of the many reasons I'm really excited about him.”
