Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was heavily booed by World Cup fans after he was shown on the screen during Spain’s clash with France.
On Thursday, Spain took on France in the World Cup semifinal at Dallas Stadium. Fans showed they were in a fiery mood, with some even disrupting the moment of silence to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the tragic attacks in Nice.
Fans certainly made their feelings toward Jones clear, booing the longtime Cowboys owner in his own arena, AT&T Stadium. He was shown on the larger-than-life screen, and fans immediately began to boo in unison.

Jones was alerted to his face being on the screen, and didn’t appear to be too pleased about the reception. However, fans around the U.S. watching on FOX Sport may be surprised to learn that the boos were directed at Jones and not FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
While those at home could hear the boos, Infantino’s face was flashed across the broadcast to make it seem as though he was receiving them. The FOX announcers, though, quickly covered for the FIFA boss to inform the viewers at home that it was Jones being booed.
Fans would have been forgiven for believing they were directed at Infantino; the 56-year-old has been widely booed at the World Cup, largely due to his ties to Donald Trump and his involvement in the Folarin Balogun red card suspension.

However, on this occasion, Infantino was not the recipient of the boos. Instead it was Jones, a highly polarizing figure in the NFL. While fellow owners and league executives universally respect him for his business acumen and immense contributions to the league's revenue, fans and critics widely dislike him for his hands-on, meddlesome approach as the Cowboys' general manager
Given the game was taking place inside Jerry’s World, Jones ensured the Cowboys’ fingerprints were all over the game. The franchise’s famous cheerleaders took the stage for the hydration break in each half.
Jones’ showing at Dallas Stadium is his first appearance at the World Cup. It’s controversial in some respects, as he will watch a sports game get played at his stadium on natural grass rather than artificial turf.
The grass debate has been a tense and divisive one in the league for years. In April, Jones defended artificial turf in April after being asked whether the Cowboys would keep the natural grass installed for the World Cup.

He said AT&T Stadium benefits from the flexibility turf provides and added he does not believe grass is safer, while also arguing that the financial savings benefit players.
