COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M pitcher Clayton Freshcorn announced on social media that he will return to play for the Aggies next season after being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the 19th round of the MLB Draft.
The 564th overall pick in this year’s draft will be a welcome addition back as he was one of the most consistent pitchers for the Aggies this season.
Freshcorn threw 54.1 innings, mostly out of the bullpen, and made one start in the regional final against USC. He had a 2.82 ERA with 56 strikeouts and just six walks.
The Waller native is tied for third all-time at Texas A&M with 12 saves in a single season. He was a consensus All-American and finalist for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award, one of college baseball’s top honors for relief pitchers.
Freshcorn is entering his third season in the Maroon and White. He transferred from McLennan College, where he played his freshman season in 2024.
Freshcorn was one of eight Aggies who were drafted in the 2026 MLB Draft.
