Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie on Wednesday received a huge honor, a testament to his belief that they can impact the world beyond football.
Lurie was given the Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award at the ESPN Sports Humanitarian Awards in New York for his work with the Eagles Autism Foundation and the Lurie Autism Institute. He joined the esteemed list of past winners, including former MLB player Billy Bean, former NFL player Steve Gleason, former NBA player Dikembe Mutombo, tennis legend Chris Evert, ASL interpreter Brice Christianson, and sports activist Dr. Richard Lapchick, among others.

Lurie bought the Eagles in 1994 for $195 million. Aside from competing in the NFL, he also wanted to use the team as a platform for his advocacy for autism. His younger brother, Peter Lurie, was diagnosed with autism at a young age.
With his latest accolade, the 74-year-old Lurie could raise more awareness and garner more help.

“(Winning) was sort of unexpected (because) we devote so much time to what we’re trying to do off the field with autism research and spend so much time trying to assure the Eagles are great. It’s a wonderful award,” said Lurie in a report from The Philadelphia Inquirer's Conor Smith.
Smith noted that the Eagles Autism Foundation and the Lurie Autism Institute, which were founded in 2019 and 2025, respectively, have raised a combined $100 million for research and healthcare.
“We want the Eagles to be synonymous with trying to do everything possible that’s innovative with autism research and serving that community, and we’re certainly getting there. It’s nice to be recognized on a national basis, and hopefully we’ll have a global impact,” added Lurie.
The Eagles have won two titles under Lurie.
